Defuturo launches Ewedrive pay-as-you-go online data backup serviceJune 28, 2007 - UK-based data storage specialist Defuturo has unveiled its remote backup solution Ewedrive, offering costumers pay-as-you-go online data storage.
Users can purchase disk space from five pence per gigabyte per week, or go for unlimited storage from £1.90 per week, with no file size limits or extra charges for data transfer. “People have an increasing appetite for file storage locally and then they start looking at offsite backup as a way of increasing the resilience of their data as well as giving them more ‘global’ accessibility of vital files. This is where Ewdrive comes in,” said Paresh Morjaria of Defuturo. All new Ewedrive users will additionally be provided with 1Gb of disk space for free. The file-transfer system uses the drag and drop capabilities of WebDAV, supported by Windows, Linux and Apple operating systems, and Ewedrive also offer their own browser based file manager which additionally offers advanced file sharing and Internet file download capabilities The service does not require the installation of proprietary software, and file transfers are secured over 256-bit SSL. Through the web based file manager customers can also mark files and folders for sharing privately with other Ewedrive users. A further feature is the ability to download data and files to the Ewedrive remote disk space directly from online file-sharing sites, as well as unRAR and unZIP files, circumventing ISP bandwidth usage and data transfer limits. ISPs will be unable to monitor what data is being transferred to the Ewedrive remote disk space either. |
