Pace Micro Technology joins HDMI forces with Simplay LabsJune 29, 2007 - Pace Micro Technology, a UK-based set-top box manufacturer, is teaming up with US testing technology specialist Simplay Labs, LLC, to maximise High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) and High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) performance of its products.
The partnership is expected to ensure that all of Pace’s high-definition set-top boxes will support both the HDMI and HDCP standards across the widest possible range of high-definition televisions and other HD consumer electronics devices, and will complement Pace’s existing testing procedures. Mark Merigot, Director of Engineering at Pace, commented: “The implementation of these important specifications into our set-top boxes will ensure that our boxes work together with consumer electronic devices to provide a consistent ‘plug-and-play’ user experience and maximise consumers’ access to premium HD content.” Over 130mn devices featuring HDMI are expected to be shipped in 2007, according to market research firm In-Stat. The proliferation of products with HDMI connectivity, including games consoles, HD DVD/Blu-ray players, set-top boxes and PCs, and the rise of HD televisions with multiple HDMI connections, is making it essential that set-top box manufacturers include the best possible testing and compatibility with the format. |
