TiVo launches new high-definition DVRJuly 25, 2007 – TiVo has announced the launch of a new high-definition digital video recorder (DVR), called the TiVo HD DVR, with the first units available from August this year in the US.
The product will be priced at $299.99, and will offer a 160Gb hard drive, capable of recording 180 hours of standard-definition video or 20 hours of high-definition. The TiVo HD DVR comes with two CableCARD slots for recording two cable shows at once, and is also compatible with the TiVo service, including such features as Movie & TV downloads from Amazon.com and Home Movie Sharing. Tom Rogers, CEO and President of TiVo, said: “It is the ultimate media centrepiece for the living room with the broadest selection of broadband content, right alongside your favourite broadcast and cable programs, giving HDTV viewers more choice and control than they’ve ever had before. And it can be used in place of the customer’s existing box.” The TiVo HD DVR includes an Ethernet jack, two USB ports and also offers universal Swivel search for searching for video content, as well as compatibility with digital antenna (ATSC) signals. |
