TechniSat selects MaxLinear’s DVB-T silicon tuner for hybrid IPTV-DVB-T set-top box

August 9, 2007 – MaxLinear, a US semiconductor company, has announced that its MxL5003S DVB-T silicon tuner has been chosen by German firm TechniSat for its Telestreamer 2TW ‘hybrid’ IPTV/DVB-T set-top box.

The set-top box allows consumers to watch programs from both DVB-T and IPTV sources on their TV, increasing viewing options.  The MxL5003S is the DVB-T-only version of the MxL5005S Global Standards family of silicon tuners, which has been available since the third quarter of 2006.

“TechniSat has exacting standards for performance and quality,” commented Kishore Seendripu, CEO of MaxLinear.  “MaxLinear’s silicon tuner exceeds these standards.  In fact, the MxL5003S does this at a very low cost and with extremely low power consumption.”
