Coventive K.K. licenses Espial’s Evo Client for set-top boxes

August 14, 2007 – Espial Group, a provider of IPTV middleware and applications, has announced that it has signed a licensing agreement with Taiwanese set-top box manufacturer Coventive K.K. for its Evo Client platform.

Evo Client, in addition to the modular components and applications of the Evo IPTV Service Platform, enables Internet-on-TV and content-rich applications for subscribers.  Coventive is integrating Espial’s IPTV middleware and applications to its set-top boxes for use with a Japanese service provider of a video on demand (VOD) over broadband service.

“We were impressed with Espial Evo’s small footprint and fast application performance so we could create a customised experience for our customers,” said Toshihiko Kumashiro, CEO of Coventive.  “The Evo Future-Proof Framework ensured we were able to finish our integration quickly and provide a robust solution for our customers.”

The new solution will be available in August 2007, and will provide VoD capabilities to major hotels and hospitals throughout Japan.  To date, Espial has shipped over 1mn Evo subscriber licences worldwide.
