Freecom introduces Network MediaPlayer

August 16, 2007 – Dutch firm Freecom has introduced a new device called the Network MediaPlayer, which hooks up to a wireless home network and can stream video, music and photos to the living room TV, including high-definition content.

The unit comes in versions with capacities of 250Gb, 400Gb and 500Gb, and supports many formats including AVI, WMV, DivX, MPEG4 and DAT for video, MP3 and OGG for audio and Vorbis and JPEG for photos.  The Freecom Network MediaPlayer also features an integrated USB port and Ethernet connection, and comes with infrared remote control, USB cable and AV cable.

There is also a kit version available which allows the user to fit their own hard drive.  The unit is priced at €209 for the kit version, €299 for the 250Gb version, €349 for the 400Gb version and €399 for the 500Gb version.
