DISH Network unveils new high-definition DVR for satellite TV serviceAugust 20, 2007 – DISH Network, a US satellite TV service, has introduced to the market its latest high-definition (HD) digital video recorder (DVR), designed to complement its HD programming.
The new model, denominated the ViP722, is a dual-tuner DVR receiver capable of serving two rooms, one in standard-definition and one in high-definition. The unit features a 500Gb hard drive, capable of recording 55 hours of high-definition programming MPEG4, 350 hours of standard-definition programming and over 100 hours of movies and shows with DISH On Demand. The receiver supports Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound, and also offers a 30-second skip feature to bypass commercials, and an IP call-back feature for customers who don’t have a phone line but still want to order pay-per-view programming, among other functions. The ViP722 also allows the connection of an external hard drive to one of its two USB 2.0 ports, offering archiving capability. The unit is free to qualifying new DISH Network customers. DISH Network currently provides satellite TV services to over 13.585mn customers in the US. |
