DS2 increases shipments of 200Mbps chipsets to US by 229% in H1

August 21, 2007 – DS2, a Spanish provider of powerline chipsets, has announced that shipments to the US of its 200Mbps chipsets rose by 229% in the first half of 2007.

In general, the powerline market is growing at a rate of 100% each year, according to research findings from the NPD Group/Retail & Reseller Tracking Service.  Shipments of 200Mbps powerline technology accounted for over 50% of powerline networking shipments in the second quarter of 2007, the same research found.  DS2 was also found to have increased its market share in the US by over 800% in under one year.

“This quarter’s NPD Group report shows we have increased our lead in the US market by a staggering 800 percent and reassures us that we are producing exactly what the customers are demanding – an affordable Home Media Network,” said Jorge Blasco, President and CEO of DS2.  “Working with partners such as Corinex Communications, D-Link and NETGEAR, customers are able to create their own home network using DS2’s technology for uninterrupted streaming of multiple High Definition media.”
