D-Link partners with DivX to launch new home network-connected media player

September 3, 2007 – D-Link, a Taiwanese manufacturer of connected home products, has announced that it has partnered with US firm DivX to launch a home network-connected device supporting the DivX codec.

The new solution, called the D-Link DSM-330 DivX Connected HD Media Player, will not only enable consumers to route media to a television from elsewhere in the home, but also decode DivX codecs.  The device will be launched in the UK, Germany and France during the second quarter of 2007.

“The availability of low cost wireless networks for the home combined with the proliferation of digital devices has made the digital home a reality for many families,” said Andrew Mulholland, D-Link’s Marketing Manager.  “The DSM-330 DivX Connected HD Media Player will make it easy for everyone to share their digital content via their home’s most established entertainment centre – the television.”

The device also offers support for Stage6, a DivX-based video site with a focus on high-definition content.
