TeliaSonera announces new FMC service called Telia Home Free

September 5, 2007 – Swedish incumbent telco TeliaSonera has announced plans to launch a new fixed mobile convergence (FMC) service called Telia Home Free.

The service will enable subscribers to use the handset to make fixed line calls at home at a cheaper rate, with the handset reverting to mobile networks when outside the home.  The service is expected to launch in Sweden on September 28 with two packages anticipated.

“Telia Home Free has been developed to lead the migration from fixed to mobile and makes mobile communications both easier and cheaper by combining the mobility of the mobile phone with the low calling cost of fixed telephony,” said Hakan Dahlstrom, Head of Mobility Services at TeliaSonera.
