Rogers Cable Communications announces launch of Karaoke On Demand

September 20, 2007 – Canadian cable operator Rogers Cable Communications has announced the launch of Karaoke On Demand for its PersonalTV customers in Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland.

The service is free and offers a choice of 600 songs ranging from pop to classic rock and oldies, with more to be added each month.  Rogers is also giving away free karaoke microphones to the first 500 customers to order a digital box and sign up to its TV service.

“Rogers is pleased to offer this new service that will be fun for the whole family,” said David Purdy, Vice President and General Manager of Television Services for Rogers Cable.  “With the popularity of karaoke, Karaoke On Demand is a great way for the whole family to have fun in the comfort of their living room.  With such a wide selection of songs to choose from, there is something for everyone in the music library.”

Rogers Cable’s digital two-way network passes around 3.5mn households in Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland, with 65% basic penetration of homes passed.
