Sling Media introduces two new SlingboxesSeptember 27, 2007 – Sling Media has announced the addition of two new Slingboxes for the UK market, the Slingbox PRO and the Slingbox SOLO.
Both products follow the Slingbox product range in enabling ‘place-shifting’ TV, allowing users to watch and control their home cable, satellite or digital video recorder on a range of displays including laptops and smartphones, anywhere they can access the Internet. The Slingbox PRO has previously only been available in the US and Canada, while the Slingbox SOLO is an entirely new product. “The tremendous success of the Slingbox in the UK demonstrates that consumers have embraced the idea of place-shifting,” said Blake Krikorian, co-founder, Chairman and CEO of Sling Media. “With the introduction of the Slingbox PRO and Slingbox SOLO, we are setting an even higher standard in the place-shifting market by incorporating industry-leading video technology and a streamlined, intuitive process for both products. Sling Media is focused on designing products that will provide customers with top value and the best overall, out of the box experience, and I feel great about the products that we are bringing to the market here in the UK with today’s announcement.” Both the Slingbox PRO and Slingbox SOLO include widescreen support and increased streaming performance, with full VGA resolution and a streaming capability of up to 8Mbps around the home. Both devices accept inputs from both standard-definition and high-definition set-top boxes (STBs), and can control a wide range of Freeview, digital cable and satellite STBs available in the UK market, such as offered by Sky, Virgin Media and Tiscali. The Slingbox PRO also features an integrated PAL analogue/digital tuner with DVB-T support. The Slingbox PRO will retail for £199.99 and includes an HD Connect cable, while the Slingbox SOLO will cost £129.99. |
