Streaming21 and WNC to present end-to-end digital home solution using Microsoft Windows Home ServerNovember 23, 2007 – Streaming21, a provider of broadcast-quality streaming solutions, WNC, a supplier of wireless communications, and Microsoft are to present their new fully integrated end-to-end digital home solution, based on the recently released Microsoft Home Server, at the upcoming IPTV World Forum Asia event.
WNC will be providing the set-top box and server hardware, while Streaming21 will provide its Home Entertainment Server to be integrated with the Microsoft Home Server and Windows Storage Server 2003 R2. The Home Server will act as the central control centre for digital home entertainment, automation, surveillance and communication applications. The platform enables media display on the living room TV rather than PC, and features offered include Personal Video Recorder (PVR) capability, Video on Demand (VOD) with “trick play” capability, Digital Home Theater, Movie Rental, Photo Bank and Real-Time Information Dashboard offering RSS, news, weather, stocks, photo albums and more. The open web-based platform also reportedly makes it easy to add unlimited applications for service expansions. The live demonstration at the event is planned to be a warm-up event before full worldwide product launch. |
