Conexant certifies DCS analogue copy protection technology on video decoders designed for STBs, PVRsNovember 26, 2007 – Conexant, a US developer of semiconductors for broadband communications and digital home products, has announced that it has certified Dwight Cavendish Systems’ (DCS) analogue copy protection technology on its CX2427X and CX2450X MPEG video decoder families.
Both the CX2427X and CX2450X support the delivery of high-definition MPEG-2, H.264 and VC-1 encoded digital video streams in personal video recorder (PVR) enabled set-top boxes. The CX2427X is a dual-channel video decoder that is capable of decoding two high-definition programmes simultaneously, and supports PVR applications on up to two televisions. The CX2450X is a single-channel video decoder targeted at mass market STBs with PVR functionality. “Preventing the piracy of valuable programming content is a top priority for broadcast operators worldwide, many of which now require support for multiple copy protection schemes,” said Lewis Brewster, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Conexant’s Broadband Media Processing business. “Supporting DCS’ security technology in our market-leading video decoders allows us to meet this prerequisite, and offer our customers a vendor-certified analogue content-protection solution.” Mazen Abdine, CEO of DCS, added: “We make our analogue copy protection technology available to MPEG semiconductor companies and set-top box manufacturers on a royalty-free basis. As a result, Conexant can now offer its customers an economical anti-theft solution that complies with studio requirements for analogue copy protection.” |
