TiVo to be become available in Canada before Christmas holidays

November 28, 2007 – TiVo has announced that its Series2 DT digital video recorder (DVR) will be available in Canadian stores for the first time, in time for this Christmas.

Canadians will now be able to have their warranty honoured in Canada and will be supported by a dedicated TiVo support team in Canada.  The TiVo Series2 DT DVR will be available from early December at major Canadian retailers outside Quebec for $199 plus standard TiVo subscription fees.  Planned availability in Quebec is uncertain at present.

“We’ve received overwhelming demand from Canadian consumers who want access to TiVo’s innovative products and services and we are extremely excited to be able to deliver our highly-successful TiVo Series2 Dual Tuner DVR to this key strategic marketplace – just in time for the holidays,”  said Joshua Danovitz, Vice President and GM of International at TiVo.  “TiVo’s move into Canada represents a natural, important progression for our business as we continue to make sustained progress across international markets.”

The monthly cost of the TiVo service is US$12.95, and prepaid packages can be bought for one, two or three years, costing $129, $249 and $299 respectively.  A high speed Internet connection is also required to retrieve electronic programme guide information.

The TiVo Series2 DT DVR is optimised for cable households and can store 80 hours of standard-definition content and also record two basic analogue cable channels or one basic cable and one digital cable channel at once.
