Orange developing home media server and PVR called “Home Library”

November 28, 2007 – Orange is developing a home media server and personal video recorder (PVR) called the Home Library, which will connect to a Livebox or ADSL broadband router and will offer users full access to stored files via a mobile phone.

The unit will thus be able to eliminate worries of leaving important documents behind in the office or home.  It will also be able to stream video via the Internet to a remote device, and like Sky will enable users to schedule recordings remotely.  The device will come with a 500GB hard drive, and an Orange spokesman has said that it will become available by the end of 2008.

Orange also reportedly plans to launch a film and TV show download site, allowing users to buy or rent movies to watch on a PC, as well as transfer to up to five devices.  The service won’t require users to be an Orange customer.
