November 29, 2007 – Sigma Designs has reported that its profits surged in the third quarter of 2007 to reach $21mn, compared to a profit of $2.7mn in the same period of the previous year.

The surge in profits was attributed to a jump in demand for its chips by manufacturers of IPTV set-top boxes (STBs) and Blu-ray players.  Revenue reached $66.2mn in the third quarter of 2007, up from $25.1mn in the same period of the previous year.

The company added that it expects fourth quarter revenue to grow by 10-15% compared to the same period 2006.
