ZVEI estimates 18mn digital set-top boxes in German homes

December 3, 2007 – There are currently around 18mn digital set-top boxes (STBs) in German homes, according to consumer electronics association Zentralverbandes Elektrotechnik- und Elektronikindustrie (ZVEI).

The majority of these were reported to be satellite receivers, of which there are 11mn, followed by 5.5mn DTT receivers and 1.5mn cable tuners.

The figures are based on sales in German retail and only comprise set-top boxes.  Integrated digital TV sets, PC cards, portable DTT receivers and USB tuner sticks are not included in the figures.
