UK ISP Be launches home monitor/surveillance service

December 7, 2007 – UK Internet service provider Be has launched a home monitor/surveillance service for its subscribers, featuring a wireless indoor camera that connects to the Be Broadband service and delivers alerts by SMS and pictures by MMS or email when it senses intruders.

Members can access their account to see what is going on in their home from any online computer or Web-enabled phone to see live streamed video from the camera and view up to 100 stored alarm incidents.  The wireless camera offers a plug and play setup and can be positioned anywhere within range of the Be Box wireless router.

The package includes a keyfob remote with which customers can arm the camera when leaving the home, upon which the camera is activated by motion and captures anything within its line of sight.  The service has a set-up fee of £150 and a £5 monthly service charge, giving members ownership of the camera, unlimited access to their account and 100 SMS and 10 MMS alerts per month.
