VeriSign supports launch of enhanced Sky Anytime on PC application

December 18, 2007 – VeriSign, a provider of Internet infrastructure for the networked world, has announced that its VeriSign Kontiki Delivery Management System (DMS) has supported in the re-launch of British Sky Broadcasting’s broadband video download service, called Sky Anytime on PC.

The service is now available through a Web-browser interface, making the online content easier to access and making it easier to search for programmes, as well as being available on any Internet-enabled PC.  The new system is supported by VeriSign’s Kontiki DMS technology, which will sit within the new thin-client application.

“At Sky we have moved into a multi-platform world in which we put the power in the hands of the consumers to define what, when and how they watch,” said Griff Parry, Director, On-Demand, BSkyB.  “Sky continues to innovate and the content and service enhancements to Sky Anytime on PC are a reflection of this.  We know that our customers want the best entertainment experience across platforms and Sky Anytime on PC continues to offer the breadth and depth of content that matters to them.  VeriSign’s Kontiki Delivery Management System plays a crucial role in supporting the delivery of an efficient download service and a rich customer experience.”

VeriSign reports that Kontiki DMS has delivered over 3mn content items for Sky Anytime on PC users since launch of the service in January 2006.
