Escient to start shipping “Vision” product series in February 2008

December 20, 2007 – US firm Escient has announced that it is to start shipping its Vision Series Media Management products in February of next year, including two all-in-one server/players, a networked audio/video zone player and a large capacity media server.

The VS-100 and VS-200 are hard drive-based all-in-one server/players, with RAID backup and HDMI 1.3 capability, allowing users to store, manage and stream their movies, music and photos to a range of devices within their home network.  The VS-100 provides dual 500GB drives while the VS-200 includes dual 1TB drives.  The VS-100 is priced at $3,999 and the VS-200 is priced at $5,999.

The VC-1 is a networked audio/video zone player that can stream audio and video from Vision servers, allowing playback of movies, music and photos from any room in the home.  The unit also features HDMI 1.3 capability and is priced at $1,999.

The VX-600 is a large capacity media server that allows users to manage, access and enjoy movies and music throughout the home via a single interface.  The unit features four 1TB drives in a RAID 5 configuration and offers virtually unlimited storage expansion capability for Vision VS and VC devices.  The VX-600 is priced at $7,999.

“Escient’s vision for the future is one in which people have an easy way to access and enjoy all their entertainment media throughout the home via a single intuitive interface, and our new Vision series products literally make this promise a reality,” said Bill Carson, General Manager of Escient.  “Most importantly, each new product in the series is designed to give custom installation professionals all the tools they need to bring their clients whole-home networked audio and video entertainment solutions.”

The Vision Series line also has access to the Rhapsody music service’s music catalogue, offering exclusive content from MTV, VH1 and CMT as well as Rhapsody Channels.
