Passive Technologies introduces lifeStation hd Media Center
December 20, 2007 – UK firm Passive Technologies has introduced its new lifeStation hd Media Center, aimed at the custom-install connected home market.
The unit’s embedded Windows Vista interface is capable of storing and playing music, videos and photos, and includes personal video recorder (PVR) functions and Internet access, as well as a built-in disc player capable of playing CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray and HD-DVDs. The lifeStation is compatible with a range of file formats including MP3, WMA, AAC, DivX and WMV.
The lifeStation hd is also targeted at the “audiophile” market and features a custom mCrystal soundboard, bespoke power cleaning circuits, high quality gold connectors and an aluminium chassis. The unit is also completely silent, using passive heat dispersal technology instead of fans and a solid state hard drive.
The unit will be available through authorised dealers from January next year for a recommended retail price of £3,499.
