D-Link and Entropic jointly develop home networking MoCA 1.0 compliant bridge for consumers
January 14, 2008 – D-Link and semiconductor firm Entropic Communications have announced that they have jointly developed the D-Link DXN-220 home networking bridge, compliant with Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) specifications and designed specifically for consumers, online gamers and digital home entertainment enthusiasts.
The D-Link MoCA MediaBridge DXN-220 allows the consumer to link entertainment devices from room to room using existing coax wiring. The Ethernet-to-coax bridge can access and distribute digital video content, including multiple streams of high-definition video and audio.
“We are pleased to partner with D-Link to bring MoCA-enabled products to market for end users,” said John Graham, Vice President of Marketing at Entropic. “The DXN-220, with Entropic’s EN2210 chip set, makes it easy for consumers to set up a whole home entertainment network themselves. Now, online gaming enthusiasts can comfortably play from the living room without having to string Ethernet cable across the house. And, consumers can now easily stream video and audio from a PC to a television in another room. The DXN-220 provides connectivity, flexibility and convenience.”
A.J. Wang, CTO for D-Link, added: “We are happy to bring the first MoCA-enabled products to market for consumers and pleased to work with Entropic Communications to deliver the functionality of the D-Link DXN-220. Together we are redefining the convenience and functionality of home entertainment networks by introducing a complementary technology our popular Wi-Fi solutions to further enable seamless multimedia sharing throughout the entire digital home.”
The D-Link DXN-220 is expected to be available towards the end of the first quarter of this year.
