Mvix launches HDMI equipped MV780 HD media player

January 24, 2008 – US firm Mvix has introduced its new MV780 device, a high-definition media player designed to allow consumers to transfer media from their computer to the living room TV, via a built-in hard drive.

The Mvix MV780 offers a native HDMI output supporting 1080i high-definition, a step up from its predecessor the MV760, which offered DVI with an optional HDMI adaptor.  The MV780 is equipped with an 802.11n Wi-Fi receiver to connect to a home network, allowing fast transfers and syncs from other computers on the home network.  The device can also sync with popular filesharing programs such as Emule, BitTorrent, KaZaa.

Storage-wise, Mvix indicates support of up to 750GB of storage, translating roughly as 400 hours of video, 150,000 songs or 2mn pictures.  The unit is compatible with Windows XP and Vista, Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later and Linux operating systems.

Details on pricing and availability have not yet been given.
