Portus introduces Portus Home system for monitoring and controlling home

January 30, 2008 – Portus, a Singapore-based developer of connected home solutions, has announced its new Z-wave-enabled Portus Home system, allowing consumers to monitor and control their home remotely.

The system provides a one touch control over the home environment and lighting, as well as giving real-time feedback on home energy consumption.  The system also includes security features such as sensors and wireless motion-sensitive cameras, which automatically record video of an unauthorised entry and notify the user by SMS, email or voicemail.  Users can open a real-time window on their mobile phone or Internet browser to remotely monitor their home.

“Modern life presents an increasing number of challenges for parents and homeowners as we spend more time balancing our commitments,” said Tim Lindquist, CEO of Portus.  “In addition, concern is mounting in the public over the link between energy consumption and global warming.  The new Portus Home service is an affordable, accessible, easy-to-use solution for monitoring your home and reducing your energy consumption.  The service provides total peace of mind, allowing you to keep an eye on loved ones, monitor your home or vacation property, and reduce your energy bills, no matter where you are, through your cell phone or browser.”

Portus Home will be available online from April 1st 2008.  The Portus Home Advanced Starter Kit, including Portus Home Gateway, Portus Home Wireless Video Camera, Occupancy Sensor, Door Sensor and Appliance Module, will cost $249.95.  A service fee of $14.95 per month also applies.
