byd:sign launches DivX-certified HDTV
July 1, 2008 - Japanese company byd:sign has introduced its new DivX-certified LCD high-definition TV (DC-1902DWB in black and DC-1902DWW in white), becoming reportedly the first television with DivX certification for the Japanese market.
The new models will offer guaranteed DivX video playback, offering a media experience that "seamlessly bridges" from the PC to the television while maintaining video quality. “We are very happy to launch the very first DivX Certified HDTV in Japan," said Katsumi Iizuka, CEO of byd:sign. "DivX videos have let consumers easily enjoy high-quality content through the Internet, working in conjunction with the environment surrounding HD digital media popularised by digital broadcast and next generation DVD players. DivX Certification enhances our HDTV features and gives added value. We plan to provide more valuable entertainment to our customers in working with DivX high quality content and devices in the future.”
DivX reports that more than 100mn DivX Certified devices have been shipped by consumers electronics manufacturers globally.
