Amazon introduces movie streaming on Macs, PCs and Sony BRAVIA televisions
September 5, 2008 - Amazon has introduced a new service allowing US customers to instantly watch ad-free movies and TV shows on Macs, PCs and compatible Sony BRAVIA televisions with Amazon Video On Demand.
Previously, customers could only download titles for watching on a PC (using Amazon Unbox) or their TiVo box. The service enables users to watch the first two minutes of every title for free to decide whether or not they want to rent or buy the title.
“We’re continuing to create new, convenient ways for our customers to watch digital movies and TV shows," said Roy Price, director of Amazon Video On Demand. "The ability to watch content instantly without downloading first was among the most requested features of our customers, and now it’s live – customers can instantly watch the ad-free title of their choice on a Mac, PC or compatible Sony BRAVIA TV via Sony’s BRAVIA Internet Video Link device."
Amazon Video On Demand has a library of over 40,000 licensed movies and TV shows.
